Navigating Friendships During Pregnancy and Postpartum: A Journey of Clarity and Growth

Pregnancy and postpartum have been transformative experiences in more ways than one. While the joy of welcoming my beautiful Baby Z into the world has been indescribable, this journey has also highlighted some unexpected challenges, particularly in the realm of friendships.

It hurt deeply to see people I thought would be there for me go ghost and seemingly ignore my baby. These were individuals I once considered close, and their absence during such a significant time in my life was a painful revelation. However, as much as it hurt, it also provided me with a crucial lesson: I cannot allow that kind of energy in my child's life. Baby Z deserves to be surrounded by love, support, and positive influences, and that is where my focus now lies.

People often say that pregnancy and postpartum reveal who your true friends are. I have come to realize that I can't always expect from others what I give myself. Everyone has their own lives and struggles, and they are not obligated to show up for me. At the same time, I am not obligated to maintain friendships that don't meet the needs of this new chapter in my life. It’s not just about me anymore; I have Baby Z to think about, and I want to protect her feelings and ensure she has a stable, loving environment.

There is no anger towards those who haven't been here for us. Instead, I’ve reached a place of clarity and acceptance. I wish them well and pray that life goes smoothly for them. However, I am no longer willing to accept the bare minimum, especially when I see those same people showing up fully for others. It’s a hard pill to swallow, but one that has brought a sense of peace and understanding.

Life is beautiful, and I am incredibly thankful for this clarity. It has allowed me to focus on the people who truly matter, those who have shown up and continue to show up for Baby Z and me. These are the relationships that deserve my energy and attention.

This journey has been about more than just becoming a mother; it's been about growing as a person, setting boundaries, and recognizing the value of genuine support. I am grateful for the lessons learned and the opportunity to create a nurturing environment for my daughter. Here's to embracing this newfound clarity and continuing to build a life filled with love and positivity

Xoxo
